Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Simo Hayha (ranked 1430 p4p, 2427 weight class) and Gabriel Lauzier (ranked 176 p4p, 271 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hayha has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Lauzier scores with a jab to the head.

and Hayha counters with a left and a right that stings Lauzier.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hayha looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hayha walks into a left hand.
A lazy left from Lauzier finds it's target.
Lauzier connects with a right hand. Hayha shakes it off.

Lauzier dodges the punch combination from Hayha.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hayha throws a body punch but Lauzier moves out of range.

Lauzier uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Hayha has time to react.
Hayha with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Lauzier to score with a decent uppercut.

Lauzier looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Lauzier swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Hayha.
Hayha throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Hayha throws a right and a left that both miss.
Lauzier thuds his right hand into Hayha's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Hayha gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Lauzier slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Lauzier lands an overhand right.
Lauzier smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Lauzier avoids the body shot from Hayha.
Hayha misses with a double jab
and Lauzier counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Hayha takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Lauzier connects with a nice looking jab.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Lauzier has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Lauzier paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Hayha is rocked!
Lauzier is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Hayha flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Hayha is out cold! Lauzier holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
