Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Conrad Cartwright (ranked 2248 p4p, 3551 weight class) and Simon Cross (ranked 239 p4p, 366 weight class). Cross has chosen Irregular God as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Conrad Cartwright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Simon Cross!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Hugh Johnson and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cross shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cartwright's guard.

Cross trying to control the position from guard on top but Cartwright is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Cross stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cartwright swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Cartwright is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Cross passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cross looking to control but instead Cartwright has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.

Cross is looking for a kimura here.

Cross wants to work for an arm triangle but Cartwright is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cross wants to advance to full mount but Cartwright doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Cartwright wants to sweep here but Cross controlling him for the moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Cross is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Cross is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cartwright doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Cross.

Cartwright wants to control but Cross is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The fighters circling - Cartwright throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Cross has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Cross doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Cartwright counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Cross.

and Cartwright counters with a lovely straight right hand!

It looks like Simon Cross has been cut.
Conrad Cartwright has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Simon Cross.
Cross doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Cartwright counters with a nice right hand that sends Cross toppling to the canvas! Cross scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Cartwright finish him?!

Cross is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cross walks into a straight right, dropping him to the canvas! Cartwright swarms him and finishes the fight with a hail of punches! What a brutal finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Conrad Cartwright!
Conrad Cartwright decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
