Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Craig Brophy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Juno Filipo! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Paul Tew and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Filipo doesn't manage to clinch there - Brophy circles away.
Brophy misses with an uppercut. Filipo saw that one coming. Brophy misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Filipo.
Filipo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Brophy's waist but Brophy gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Filipo off to one side. Filipo gets a takedown into half guard. Filipo passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Brophy! Filipo can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Brophy is looking to escape. Brophy wants to hold on but Filipo pushes him away. Brophy keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Brophy bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
That's one minute gone in the round. Brophy looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Filipo trying to control the position here. Brophy trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Filipo keeping moving, preventing Brophy from controlling successfully. Filipo controls Brophy momentarily but Brophy frees himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Brophy slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Brophy is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Filipo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Filipo manages to work his way to half guard, despite Brophy's best efforts. Brophy is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Filipo defends it well. Brophy missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Brophy passes the guard and advances to mount! Filipo is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Filipo is looking to get to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brophy takes Filipo's back. Brophy controlling from the back. Brophy is trying to stick to Filipo's back but Filipo is turning into Brophy. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Brophy's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Filipo. Brophy keeping moving, preventing Filipo from controlling successfully. Brophy kicks Filipo off and gets to his feet. Brophy cracks Filipo with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Filipo dodges the punch combination from Brophy.
Brophy feints and as Filipo raises his hands in defense, Brophy changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Filipo tries to land a sweep but no joy. Brophy stands up over Filipo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brophy in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Brophy wants to control from the top but Filipo keeps moving. Filipo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Brophy is aware though and is defending well. Filipo is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Filipo keeping full guard, as Brophy tries to pass. Filipo wants to stand and escape but Brophy is having none of it.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Filipo swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Brophy counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Filipo tries to clinch and Brophy makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Filipo looks gassed! Brophy closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Filipo did well to prevent Brophy getting side control. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Brophy trying to pass the guard but Filipo defending well. Filipo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Craig Brophy dominated that round. That's time! Brophy's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Brophy keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Brophy drives through with a takedown into guard. Brophy works a leg free and moves into half guard. Brophy is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Filipo! Brophy trying to control but Filipo is having none of it. Brophy landing strikes from the mount. Brophy working for a submission but Filipo is keeping him at bay. Filipo wants to control but Brophy is having none of it. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Filipo can't escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brophy looking to secure an arm triangle but Filipo defends it well. Filipo squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Filipo blocking the ground and pound. Filipo wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Brophy looking for a guillotine from mount but Filipo is having none of it. Brophy is going olschool here, as he tries to force Filipo to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Filipo shrugs it off. Filipo is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Filipo is desperately trying to improve his position but Brophy has a good base and remains in mount. Brophy trying to control but Filipo is having none of it. Brophy fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Brophy wants to control the pace but Filipo is squirming around nicely. Filipo wants to hold on but Brophy pushes him away. Brophy trying to control but he's not successful this time. Brophy is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Filipo has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Filipo tries to reverse the position but Brophy maintains control. Brophy throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Filipo because Brophy loaded up on that one. Brophy can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Filipo is looking to escape. Filipo bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Brophy throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Filipo wants to stand but Brophy has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Filipo won't allow Brophy to sweep him here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Craig Brophy dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
A cross from Brophy lands. Brophy tries to bum rush Filipo with a series of wild strikes but Filipo uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Brophy rushes Filipo and presses him up against the cage. Brophy tightens his grip and picks Filipo up, before dumping him to the ground. Filipo manages to land in guard. Brophy chips away with some ground and pound. Brophy slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Brophy decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Filipo, up you get! Filipo misses with a takedown attempt enabling Brophy to counter with a crisp jab. Brophy closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Filipo to the mat! Filipo manages to get full guard. Filipo trying to strike off his back.
Craig Brophy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Brophy has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Filipo to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Brophy is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Filipo pulls down on the head and he's put Brophy to sleep! This one is all over!
