PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Steve Stifler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Colin robin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Steve Stifler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Colin robin!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stifler throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. robin was covering up waiting for the punch and Stifler finishes the takedown easily into guard.
robin is pulling down on Stifler's head. It's preventing any offense from Stifler, at least for the moment.

Stifler has gone for a leg lock! robin slips out almost immediately though and dives into Stifler's guard.
robin wants to stand but Stifler has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Stifler has his foot on robin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. robin works his way back into a safe position though.

Stifler is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Stifler working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. robin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. robin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Stifler is looking for a triangle but robin pushes his legs off easily.
Stifler is breathing heavily.

robin stands and throws Stifler's legs to the side, diving into side control.
robin controls the position.
Stifler tries to get back to half guard but can't.
robin advances to full mount.
robin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
I looks like robin might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
robin lands a big shot there that rocks Stifler but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

robin prevents Stifler from getting the reversal.
robin scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Stifler is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
robin lands with some strikes.
robin tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
robin pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

robin can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Stifler is looking to escape.

Despite being in the dominant position, Colin robin just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and robin counters with a shoot takedown. Stifler fights it but they end up in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Colin robin dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


robin scores with a hook to the body. Stifler takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Stifler avoids a punch combination nicely.
robin scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

robin closes the distance and clinches.
robin tries to land a knee to the head but Stifler blocks with his arms.

Stifler has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics robin uses from the top position.

robin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
robin might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Stifler kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Stifler has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. robin is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Stifler.

Stifler is looking for a sweep.
robin content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Colin robin has got the better of the ground game so far.

robin tries for a kimura but Stifler is defending well.
Stifler manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
robin is trying to control. Stifler wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Stifler misses with some strikes from the bottom.
robin throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Stifler is not content to let robin control the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
robin tries to close the distance and clinch but Stifler swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

robin is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

robin avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Colin robin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

robin is taking a breather. Stifler says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
You get the feeling that Stifler really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Stifler throwing hammer fists to the chest of robin. What's that going to do exactly?
robin postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Stifler looks a forlorn figure.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Colin robin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well robin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
