Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Casey Peterson (ranked 2322 p4p, 3624 weight class) and Dan Kim (ranked 175 p4p, 246 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Casey Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dan Kim!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Dean Styles and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kim misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Peterson.
Peterson doesn't manage to clinch there - Kim circles away.
Kim throws out a counter right but Peterson avoids it with no problem.
A swing and a miss from Kim.
Peterson shoots in for a double leg but Kim sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A nice side step and Kim releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Peterson rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Kim counters with a stiff right hand.
Peterson throws a low kick but Kim moves out of range easily.
Kim circles away from the clinch attempt.
Peterson fails in his attempt to clinch.
It seemed like Kim was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Peterson connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peterson fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Kim on the side of the head.
Peterson wants to clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kim checks a leg kick.

Peterson gets a double leg takedown into Kim's guard.
Peterson passes Kim's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Peterson is working for a submission of some sort.
Kim wants to get back to full guard.

Peterson seems to be working for a kimura but Kim defends the submission attempt.
Kim really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Peterson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Peterson seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Kim has recovered full guard.
Peterson trying to control but Kim is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Peterson definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Kim bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Peterson's guard.


Peterson has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Kim doesn't defend quickly enough and Peterson has managed to lock this one up! Can Kim escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Peterson on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Casey Peterson!
