This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 29 wins and 36 losses; Anthony Lavicci! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Richard Clark and James Ackerman.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Ramirez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lavicci. Lavicci closes the distance and clinches up with Ramirez, looking for a takedown. Lavicci pushes Ramirez against the cage but Ramirez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Lavicci shoots in for a takedown but Ramirez shows good takedown defense. Jackson Ramirez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anthony Lavicci. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Lavicci working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Ramirez works his way to full guard. Good work. Ramirez has control of Lavicci's left arm, preventing Lavicci from doing any damage. Lavicci advances to half guard. Lavicci is trying to control. Ramirez wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Lavicci trying to pass the guard but Ramirez defending well.

Lavicci wants to pass to mount but Ramirez is defending the position. Lavicci is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
