Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Perry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Perry has chosen goldberg theme as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Perry moves in looking to clinch but Williams pushes him off. Perry misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
William Perry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Perry tries to clinch but Williams moves out of range. Williams misses with a series of wild punches.

No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Williams ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Williams digs a good body shot into Perry's ribs. Williams moves out of range of the strikes. Perry shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Perry takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Perry looks gassed! Williams ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Perry moves away. Williams takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Perry tries to clinch up and Williams counters with a nice double leg into side control. Perry won't be happy with that. Perry is looking to regain half guard here but Williams keeps moving and retains side control. Perry is working to avoid the ground and pound but Williams connects with a decent elbow. Perry is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Perry misses with an elbow from the bottom. Williams advances nicely into full mount. Williams fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

That's five minutes gone in the round. Perry manages to regain half guard. Good work. Williams lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Perry flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Perry throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Williams content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Perry tries to land a sweep but no joy. Perry keeping full guard, as Williams tries to pass.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Perry manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Williams manages to get himself to full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Perry thows a left - swing and a miss! Perry looks to land a body kick but Williams moved away. Perry wants to clinch but Williams slips to the side and Williams counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Williams uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Perry. Williams thows a body shot but no joy. Perry thuds his shin into the meat of Williams's side. Perry moves in looking to clinch but Williams pushes him off. Williams drives through with a takedown into guard.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Williams tries to free his leg and advance position but Perry is retaining full guard. Williams won't allow Perry to sweep him here. Williams has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Williams pushes down on Perry's leg and manages to get into half guard. Williams working the head and body with strikes. Perry tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. That's nine minutes gone in the round. Williams is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Perry sees it coming and defends easily. Perry is in trouble now - Williams has advanced to mount! Perry can't escape the position.
