PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Connor MacLeod (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Mack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). MacLeod comes to the cage accompanied by Machine Gun by Noisia. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Connor MacLeod!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sam Mack!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Joseph Jones and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacLeod loads up on a big right hand but Mack slips the punch.
MacLeod stalks Mack and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Mack's face. Mack staggers backwards, shaken.
Mack uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from MacLeod.

Mack drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Mack makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Mack throwing strikes from guard but MacLeod blocks nicely.
Mack must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
MacLeod utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

MacLeod is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mack defends well.
MacLeod has momentary wrist control but Mack slips an elbow through the middle.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
MacLeod is looking to stand back up but Mack counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by MacLeod.
Mack sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. MacLeod defending well though.
MacLeod looks like he's trying to stand up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mack is keen to just control but MacLeod is a slippery customer.
Mack thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed MacLeod's head.
Mack missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Mack is looking to stall here but MacLeod recovers full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Mack ducks down and throws a hook to the body but MacLeod moves away.
Connor MacLeod seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mack ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Mack scores with a hook.
MacLeod fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Mack connects with a single shot there.
No joy there for Mack, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
MacLeod swinging wilding here.
MacLeod throws an overhand right that lands on Mack's shoulder, as Mack tries to avoid the shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
MacLeod leaves Mack with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
MacLeod swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
MacLeod throws a shot to the body.
Mack looks gassed!
MacLeod misses with a wild combination.
A jab from MacLeod misses.
MacLeod displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mack.
MacLeod scores with a one two! Mack had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
This has been an exciting period of action!
MacLeod misses with a straight left.
Mack gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Mack takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
MacLeod lands with a right that hurts Mack. Mack looks to clinch but MacLeod throws a short knee that drops Mack. This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch and Knee). Connor MacLeod!
