PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yawa Kiang (ranked 23620 p4p, 23556 weight class) and Way Nada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yawa Kiang could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Way Nada's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 46 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yawa Kiang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 42 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Way Nada!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Kiang goes for a double leg but Nada avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Nada continues to drive forward.
Nada with the counter takedown but Kiang avoids it easily.

Kiang pulls guard effortlessly.
Kiang is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Nada is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nada postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kiang changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nada tries to avoid it but Kiang manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nada to the ground. Nada escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Nada decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Nada perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Kiang has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nada is working away from the top position though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nada thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kiang's head.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Nada changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kiang looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Kiang is trying to escape the position but Nada is controlling the position.
Kiang is not content to let Nada control the position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Way Nada dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

As Nada looks to move away, Kiang throws a big counter combo but Nada just gets out of the way.
Kiang keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
And Kiang counters with a quick kick to the body but Nada blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nada shoots for a double leg takedown but Kiang sprawls well. He's pushed Nada's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Yawa Kiang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Way Nada.

Nada shoots in looking for a takedown but Kiang manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Nada's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Kiang bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Nada might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kiang haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
No luck for Kiang with that takedown attempt.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kiang will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Nada tries to counter by closing the distance.

Nada shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

I would just about give that final round to Way Nada.
Well Nada has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
