PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gregor McConor (ranked 4224 p4p, 4826 weight class) and Johnny Machida (ranked 453 p4p, 491 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think McConor might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Hypnotize. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Percy O'Donnell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McConor tries to score with a low kick but Machida moves his leg out of the way.
McConor misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
McConor with a hook.
Machida on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
McConor lands with a nice body punch.
McConor misses with a head kick.
Machida throws a counter combo.
Machida takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
McConor throws a sloppy head kick and Machida moves out of range easily.
McConor tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Despite the aggression on Machida's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Machida gets cracked with a nice right hand there by McConor.

McConor definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
McConor shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Machida eats them both and turns towards McConor to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
McConor connects with a looping right hand.

Machida tries to move into range but McConor moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

As McConor backs off Machida throws a huge counter combo but McConor manages to avoid it all.
McConor throws a leg kick which misses Machida's front leg but catches the back leg as Machida tries to avoid it.

McConor misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
McConor dips to his left and cracks Machida with an uppercut!
McConor connects with a right hand. Machida shakes it off.

Machida is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Machida takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
McConor lands a jab to the head.

McConor tries to land a front kick but Machida steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
McConor connects with a right hand. Machida shakes it off.
Machida is still on wobbly legs! Can McConor finish him?
Machida closes the distance but McConor moves to the side
and McConor counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
McConor lands with a straight right. Machida didn't see that one coming.
McConor tests Machida's chin there with a solid looking shot.
McConor jabs at Machida's body.
McConor scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Machida doesn't seem bothered though.
Machida seems to have recovered his senses.
McConor lands a slapping body shot.
Nice shot lands for McConor.
McConor is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
McConor scores with a nice strike.
Machida takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

McConor throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Machida stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Nice combo by McConor! Oh, that's hurt him - Machida falls to the canvas and McConor follows him into side control.
McConor tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
McConor tries to stand but Machida controls the position and pulls McConor into his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McConor wants to get up but he can't break Machida's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

McConor trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
McConor bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Machida's head.
McConor dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
McConor lands a jab to the head.
Machida takes a shot right to the bread basket.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McConor jabs Machida right on the nose. Machida blinks but takes it well.
Machida walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
McConor throws a head kick but Machida moves out of range.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

McConor moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
McConor scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

A less than humble Gregor McConor misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
In defeat, Johnny Machida stepped up to the mic, saying 'I may have lost tonight, but give me a rematch and I’ll come back and knock this bum out the next time'.
