The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Howell wants to clinch.

Howell tries to counter with a takedown but Zakrzewski is quick to defend against it.

Howell tries to keep at a distance but Zakrzewski has taken the fight into the clinch.

Zakrzewski escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Howell gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Howell has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Zakrzewski is proving hard to escape from.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Howell's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Zakrzewski has momentary wrist control but Howell slips an elbow through the middle.

Zakrzewski is rocked!
Howell stands up over Zakrzewski, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Zakrzewski is still in real trouble! Can Howell finish him?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Howell gets to his feet and stands over Zakrzewski, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Zakrzewski felt that one! Howell unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Zakrzewski from any more punishment!
