Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Davis (ranked 1303 p4p, 2739 weight class) and Frendy Saputra (ranked 98 p4p, 184 weight class). Saputra has chosen Truckin' as his entrance music. Frendy Saputra struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 136.1lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jackson Davis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frendy Saputra! The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Tarja Halkonen and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Davis drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Saputra sneaks back into half guard. Davis slows the pace down in half guard. Davis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Saputra keeps working. Davis missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Saputra wants to improve his position but Davis is controlling well.
Davis is thwarting Saputra's attempts to control the position. Davis thows a huge punch but Saputra dodges it nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Saputra regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Davis. Davis passes easily into side control. Nice work. Davis fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Davis wants to control for a moment but Saputra uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. We've been hearing good reports from Davis's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Davis is looking to stall here but Saputra recovers full guard. Davis sitting in guard here, content to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Saputra preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Davis looking to sit in guard and control but Saputra gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Saputra stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Davis swivels though and keeps the full guard. Davis trying to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Saputra won't allow Davis to sweep him here. Saputra sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Davis doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Saputra paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Davis - great work!
