PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ross Mckay (ranked 3994 p4p, 4124 weight class) and Jaylen Mullins (ranked 173 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ross Mckay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jaylen Mullins!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mckay doesn't manage to clinch there - Mullins circles away.
Mckay tries to clinch but Mullins is having none of it.
Mckay sets himself, and Mullins steps forward looking for the clinch! Mckay avoids it this time.

Mullins changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mckay looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Mckay is trying to improve his position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like Mullins might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Mckay tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mullins wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Mckay pushes Mullins away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Mullins gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Mckay is trying to improve his position.
Mullins really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mckay. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mullins in side control lands a decent elbow.

Mullins decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Mckay closes the distance and clinches up with Mullins, looking for a takedown. Mckay pushes Mullins against the cage but Mullins circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Despite the aggression on Mullins's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Mckay is breathing heavily.

Mullins shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mullins showed some decent athleticism there.

Mullins escapes and gets back to his feet.

Mckay tries to keep at a distance but Mullins has taken the fight into the clinch.

Mullins tightens his grip and picks Mckay up, before dumping him to the ground. Mckay manages to land in guard.

Mckay can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mullins controls the pace.
Mullins with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Mullins not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mullins lands a couple of elbows.
Mullins is looking to stand up but Mckay won't let him.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mullins is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Mullins has his foot on Mckay's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mckay works his way back into a safe position though.
Mckay will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Mckay is letting Mullins control him for a moment.

Mullins decides to stand up, so the ref orders Mckay to his feet.

No joy there for Mullins, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Mullins stuffs the takedown attempt from Mckay. Mckay gets slowly back to his feet.

Mullins throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mckay tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Mullins is in Mckay's guard.

Well Mullins has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
