Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jicheng Ruan (ranked 4092 p4p, 4020 weight class) and Karter Esparza (ranked 174 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Ruan might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Alright. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Karter Esparza!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Paul Gruel and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Esparza closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Esparza avoids a wild elbow strike from Ruan.
Esparza tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ruan smiles and moves away.
Ruan avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ruan is looking for a counter combo.
Ruan connects with a high kick.
Esparza doesn't manage to clinch there - Ruan circles away.
Ruan circles away from the clinch attempt.
Esparza wants to clinch.
Esparza closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Esparza tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ruan smiles and moves away.
Esparza rushes Ruan and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Esparza jumps into guard, dragging Ruan to the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Esparza utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Esparza is looking to cinch up a triangle. Ruan throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Esparza's body to avoid the submission. Esparza has instead reached around Ruan's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Esparza arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Karter Esparza!
