Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Trevon Bridges! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jayce Mayo! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mayo clinches. Mayo decides to pull guard. Bridges sitting in guard, not really doing much. Mayo wants to improve his position but instead Bridges has moved into half guard.
Mayo holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Bridges is stalling here. Mayo is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Bridges seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Mayo has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Bridges is positioning himself to get back to half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bridges tries to buck Mayo off but Mayo is having none of it. Bridges taking a bit of punishment here - Mayo scoring with strikes. Mayo fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Mayo working the ground and pound from side control. Bridges is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Mayo is staying tight to Bridges's torso, preventing him from escaping. Bridges is trying to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bridges controls the position for a moment. Bridges wants to control but Mayo postures up. Bridges is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Mayo moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mayo gets in close and instigates a clinch. Bridges is trying to pull guard but Mayo turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Bridges tries to work over Mayo's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Mayo pulls Bridges into guard.
Mayo seems keen to control Bridges's posture. Mayo wants to sweep here but Bridges controlling him for the moment. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mayo can do anything to dispel that myth. Bridges passes Mayo's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mayo is trying to maintain the position but Bridges is very close to passing his half guard. Mayo pushes Bridges off, looking to escape but Bridges dives into side control. He's locked up a kimura now - that was fast! He's cranking on it and Mayo is forced to tap! The fight is over!
