Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Garcia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Sousa!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Thiago Cunha and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sousa misses with a takedown attempt - Garcia sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Sousa shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Garcia as he jumps to the side.
Garcia scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.


It looks like Rafael Sousa has been cut.
Garcia misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Sousa tries for a takedown but Garcia sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Antonio Garcia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rafael Sousa.
Garcia throws a series of punches but Sousa avoids them all with ease.

Garcia shoots in and bounces Sousa off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Garcia controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Garcia slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Sousa thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Sousa is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Sousa is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Garcia feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Garcia is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Garcia is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sousa is just riding it out for now. Garcia eventually gives up the hold.

Sousa tries to roll over but Garcia keeps him under control.
