This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 11 wins and 2 losses; Niles Standish! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 18 wins and 16 losses; Gaston Cahute!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Reed Andrews and John Kavanagh.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Standish pushes Cahute up against the cage in a clinch.
Standish tries for a takedown but Cahute manages to get underhooks.
Standish drops down looking for an ankle pick but Cahute pulls his leg out and moves away.
Standish closes the distance and clinches up with Cahute, looking for a takedown. Standish pushes Cahute against the cage but Cahute circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Cahute manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Standish on his heels. He'll look to pass Standish's guard now, I'm sure.

Cahute has control of Standish's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Standish regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Cahute might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Standish haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

We've been hearing good reports from Standish's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Cahute felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Standish seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Cahute for as long as he can get away with.
