The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Benjamins has closed the distance and engaged Heliogabale in a clinch.

Benjamins is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Benjamins trying to control from Heliogabale's half guard. Heliogabale has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Benjamins won't allow Heliogabale to sweep him here. Heliogabale is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Heliogabale keeping full guard, as Benjamins tries to pass. Benjamins got a little sloppy there for a moment and Heliogabale has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Benjamins has managed to get both his arms back between Heliogabale's legs - danger averted. Benjamins has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Benjamins drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Benjamins jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Benjamins being controlled here momentarily. Heliogabale wants to sweep but no luck.
That's one minute gone in the round. Benjamins content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Heliogabale has locked up a guillotine! Heliogabale's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Benjamins is holding on here and Heliogabale must be using up a lot of energy. Benjamins has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Heliogabale gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
