PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dawindi Buktot (ranked 23602 p4p, 23552 weight class) and Kulata Bitok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 45 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 46 - 5, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kulata Bitok!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Bitok shoots in looking for a takedown. Buktot tries to sprawl out of it but Bitok keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Buktot manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Buktot half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buktot is refusing to be controlled, as Bitok sits in half guard.
Buktot keeping hold of Bitok's head, controlling as best he can.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Bitok not doing much here.
Buktot is trying to control but can't.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Buktot looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Bitok!
Bitok seems a little lost for a moment, as Buktot dominates the positioning.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bitok wants to control but Buktot postures up.

Buktot content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Buktot fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Bitok is trying to counter with his kicks.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Dawindi Buktot will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Buktot looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bitok is fending him off so far but Buktot persists. Nope, Bitok circles away and we're back to standing.
Bitok steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Buktot.
Horrible takedown attempt by Bitok or perhaps it was just good defense by Buktot, which made it look bad.
Bitok tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Buktot swivels and escapes.

Buktot slaps away a takedown attempt from Bitok, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Dawindi Buktot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kulata Bitok.

Bitok shoots in for a takedown but Buktot shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Nice sprawl there from Buktot as Bitok shoots in.
No luck for Bitok with that takedown attempt.
Buktot is looking to counter with a body kick.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Buktot slaps away a takedown attempt from Bitok, before circling back to the center of the mat.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bitok fails with a takedown attempt.
Buktot changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bitok tries to avoid it but Buktot manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bitok to the ground. Bitok escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Buktot is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bitok can do to turn this around?

Buktot gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Bitok makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Buktot really felt that one!
Nice takedown defense from Bitok. No joy for Buktot on that attempt.
Bitok dives in and grabs Buktot's left leg, looking for a takedown. Buktot pushes down on Bitok's head and hops out.
Buktot throws a quick counter kick to the body but Bitok avoids it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Buktot shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bitok pinned against the cage. Bitok gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Bitok shoots in for a takedown but Buktot shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Buktot thinks about countering with a body kick.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Buktot shoots in but no luck this time.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dawindi Buktot will probably get the nod.
That's time! Buktot's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Buktot closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Bitok quickly recovers to half guard.
Buktot takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Bitok gets back to full guard.
Bitok has his hands on Buktot's head, controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buktot's corner is telling him to maintain position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bitok trying to control the position.
Bitok managing to control the position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Bitok's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Buktot fails with the takedown
and Bitok finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bitok shoots in but Buktot avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Buktot misses with a takedown

and Bitok counters with a shoot takedown. Buktot fights it but they end up in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Bitok stops Buktot from standing up.
Bitok stays in close to Buktot's body and controls the position.
Bitok postures up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bitok sitting in guard here, content to control.
Buktot has Bitok pulled in close to control his posture.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Buktot not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Kulata Bitok has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dawindi Buktot is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Kulata Bitok comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Buktot has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
