Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between James Bond (ranked 2854 p4p, 24794 weight class) and Dane Meyers (ranked 332 p4p, 0 weight class). Dane Meyers is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dane Meyers!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Chris Saunders and Roger Salmon.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bond fails with the takedown
and Meyers cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Meyers scores with a jab to the jaw.
Bond fails with an attempt to clinch.

Bond gets tackled into the cage by Meyers. Meyers maintains the clinch.
Bond tries to score a body lock takedown but Meyers shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Bond tries to pull guard but Meyers won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Bond. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bond breaks from the clinch.
That kick from Bond tenderised Meyers's leg. Meyers is trying to keep his angry face on.
Bond shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Meyers but Meyers pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Meyers wants to counter the offense by Bond and move into the clinch position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bond shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Bond closes this distance looking for a takedown but Meyers circles away.

Bond feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bond trying to control but Meyers is working from the bottom.
Bond prevents Meyers from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Meyers looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Meyers is controlling Bond's posture.
Let's hope that Meyers has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Bond working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Meyers can do anything to dispel that myth.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Bond looking to sit in guard and control but Meyers gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Meyers stays in close to Bond's body and controls the position.
Bond trying to keep a closed guard but Meyers is proving a slippery customer.
Bond lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Bond stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Meyers swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Meyers is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Meyers pulls Bond in to control the position.

Meyers is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Bond frees his head nicely. Oh but Meyers has switched to an armbar! Bond is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
