Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Takashi Drake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Hammer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Takashi Drake!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Hammer!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Sam Margolis and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hammer tries a low kick but Drake avoids it.
Hammer shoots in for a takedown but Drake shows good takedown defense.
Drake doesn't manage to clinch there - Hammer circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hammer looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Drake could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Drake takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
No joy there for Hammer, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Drake shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hammer makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Drake drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Drake throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Hammer is trying to control Drake's posture but Drake avoids it.

Drake is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Hammer will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Drake connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Hammer some visible discomfort.
Drake tries to move into full mount but can't pass Hammer's legs.
Hammer is trying to get back to his feet.
Drake working the ground and pound but Hammer is defending the strikes.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Drake wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hammer, who protects the arm well.
Hammer is trying to get back to his feet.
Hammer is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Drake has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Drake is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hammer sees it coming and defends easily.
Drake lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Hammer is trying to stand back up but Drake is controlling him

Hammer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Drake. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Drake stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Hammer to get to his feet.

Drake escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hammer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hammer postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That was a close round but I would say that Takashi Drake will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

and Hammer counters with a shoot takedown. Drake fights it but they end up in guard.

Drake has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Hammer escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Hammer!

Drake is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Hammer's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Hammer. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Drake takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

and Hammer counters with a nice double leg into side control. Drake won't be happy with that.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Drake is trying to control Hammer's posture but Hammer avoids it.

Hammer is looking to take a break and control but Drake is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Drake is looking to improve his position.

Hammer is looking to stand up but Drake won't let him.

Jack Hammer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Hammer tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Drake counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hammer!
Drake has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Hammer's face.
Hammer wants to control but Drake is having none of it.

Drake stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

and Hammer counters with a nice low kick that buckles Drake's knee momentarily.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Drake shoots in and drives through. Hammer sprawls well.

Hammer tries to close the distance and clinch up but Drake swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Hammer fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Drake.

and Hammer counters with a takedown into side control.
Drake sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Hammer wants to get back to his feet.
Drake flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Hammer is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Hammer is taking a breather. Drake says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Drake is trying to maintain the position but Hammer is very close to passing his half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hammer thows a huge punch but Drake dodges it nicely.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Hammer bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Drake manages to work his way to half guard, despite Hammer's best efforts.

and Hammer counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

Drake escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hammer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Drake has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Hammer is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Drake.
A lull in the action here.
Hammer is putting a hurting on Drake here, landing some big shots from side control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Hammer stands up and beckons Drake to his feet.

Drake closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Drake lands in his opponent's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

That's time! Drake's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Hammer swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Drake.
Drake doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Hammer counters with a three punch combo that has Drake backing up. Drake nods at Hammer to acknowledge the strikes.
Hammer shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Drake as he jumps to the side.

Hammer content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Hammer seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Drake has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Hammer has passed into side control.
Drake gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Drake seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hammer does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Takashi Drake.
I think Hammer has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
