The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva throws out a powerful jab.
Valdenius showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Silva.
A good leg kick by Silva.
Silva tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Valdenius was well out of range. Poor timing from Silva.
Silva scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Silva lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Valdenius misses with a double jab
and Silva counters with a stiff right hand.
No joy there for Valdenius, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Silva fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Valdenius looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Valdenius gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Valdenius displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Silva throws out the jab.
Valdenius drops down looking for a counter takedown but Silva sprawls and moves away.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Silva has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Silva swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Valdenius takes a swing at Silva's ribcage but misses.
Valdenius has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Valdenius there as he acknowledges the shot.
A slow jab from Valdenius misses its intended target.
A head kick misses from Silva.
Valdenius shoots in looking for a takedown. Silva tries to sprawl out of it but Valdenius keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Silva manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Valdenius counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Silva lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Valdenius takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Silva fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Valdenius attempts a counter takedown but Silva avoids it well and moves away.
Silva misses with a looping right.
Valdenius tries to counter with a takedown but Silva is quick to defend against it.
Valdenius takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Valdenius uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Silva.

Valdenius takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Silva scores with a nice strike.
Silva misses with a low kick.
Silva stuffs the takedown attempt from Valdenius. Valdenius gets slowly back to his feet.
Silva is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Valdenius had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
Valdenius gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Silva.

Silva cracks Valdenius with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Silva has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Valdenius to stand back up!
Valdenius takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Silva lands a jab to the head.

Valdenius is rocked!
Silva's corner calls for a 1-2. Silva obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Oh Valdenius is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Silva avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Valdenius seems to have got his legs back now.
Silva feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Valdeniuss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Silva throws a solid leg kick but Valdenius takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Silva.
Silva jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Silva.
Valdenius has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Silva.
Silva moves into range and connects with a jab.

Silva sends Valdenius crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Silva is motioning to the referee to let Valdenius up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Valdenius moves away from the strike by Silva.
Valdenius ducks under a wild hook from Silva.
Valdenius feinted with a counter takedown.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Silva tried to score with a low kick but Valdenius checks it.
Silva throws a leg kick which misses Valdenius's front leg but catches the back leg as Valdenius tries to avoid it.
Silva punishes Valdenius's body with a nice straight punch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A punch lands to the side of Valdenius 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Valdenius shoots in but no luck this time.
Silva swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
A cross from Silva lands.
Manuel Silva seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Valdenius takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Silva throws an overhand right that drops Valdenius like a sack of potatoes! Silva dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!
