Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris McDonald! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Randy Marsh! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Sam Margolis and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marsh tries to keep at a distance but McDonald has taken the fight into the clinch. McDonald is pressed up against the cage. Marsh has hold of a leg and is looking to drag McDonald down to the mat. McDonald avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. McDonald tries to clinch up. Marsh circles away from the clinch attempt.
Marsh pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McDonald shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. McDonald showed some decent athleticism there. Marsh moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Marsh is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marsh looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Marsh pulls McDonald in close to prevent any damage. McDonald will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Marsh is trying to control the position but McDonald postures up. Marsh keeping moving, preventing McDonald from controlling successfully. McDonald loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. McDonald wants to control from the top but Marsh keeps moving. McDonald passes into half guard under a barage of strikes. Marsh actively working from the bottom here. McDonald is looking to take a break and control but Marsh is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from McDonald. Randy Marsh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Marsh has his takedown stuffed and McDonald moves into the clinch. Marsh is looking for a takedown up against the cage. McDonald gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Chris McDonald has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Randy Marsh. Marsh pulls McDonald into guard.
Marsh keeping moving, preventing McDonald from controlling successfully. McDonald stopping the sweep attempt from Marsh. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Marsh looks gassed!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. McDonald slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Marsh wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and McDonald is now in half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. McDonald seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Marsh does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chris McDonald dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Marsh gets caught flat footed, as McDonald shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Marsh working for a triangle but McDonald defends it easily.

Marsh had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. McDonald is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Marsh Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take McDonald's back instead. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Marsh is looking for the choke from the back position but McDonald is controlling his hands well.
That's one minute gone in the round. I really don't envy McDonald right now.
Marsh is trying to stick to McDonald's back but McDonald is turning into Marsh. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Marsh's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by McDonald. Marsh bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McDonald's guard. Marsh pushing down on McDonald's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. McDonald really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Marsh seems to be working for a kimura but McDonald defends the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Marsh throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. McDonald is trying to maintain the position but Marsh is very close to passing his half guard. Marsh takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McDonald blocking the ground and pound attempt from Marsh. Marsh is thwarting McDonald's attempts to control the position. McDonald is staying active underneath Marsh, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Marsh blocks the strikes from McDonald.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Marsh looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Marsh thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing McDonald to regain full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McDonald avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Marsh slips nicely into half guard. Marsh scoring with strikes to the body and head. McDonald is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Randy Marsh showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
A telegraphed right hand from McDonald misses the target. Randy Marsh is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. McDonald is looking to clinch. McDonald fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Marsh looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Marsh feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Marsh postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! McDonald is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Marsh, into his guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McDonald trying to control the position from guard on top but Marsh is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. McDonald trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Marsh is on top in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Marsh landing with the ground and pound. Marsh postures up and lands a big shot to McDonald's brow. Marsh postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Marsh wants to control from the top but McDonald keeps moving. Marsh thows a big elbow that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marsh preventing the sweep. McDonald looking to control but Marsh passes into half guard.
Marsh winds up and cracks McDonald with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Marsh wants to take a breather but McDonald is having none of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. McDonald wants to get back to full guard. McDonald trying to hold on to Marsh's head to control him but Marsh postures up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Marsh shoots in and bounces McDonald off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Marsh trying to control but McDonald is working from the bottom.
And that's the end of the fight! Randy Marsh comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Marsh has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
