Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Ricardo Funch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Faber!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Ackerman and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Faber shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Funch as he avoids it easily.
Faber will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

and Funch holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Faber bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Funch bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Faber's guard.
Funch loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Funch postures up in Faber's guard and throws a big left but Faber blocks it.

Faber is working an open guard so Funch takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Funch plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Faber takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Funch tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Faber paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Faber swats away the attempt to clinch by Funch.

Funch forces Faber back against the cage and clinches.
Faber has had enough of the clinch but Funch keeps him there for the moment.
Funch creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Faber's defenses.

Funch drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Faber dives on top into guard.

Faber gets to mount! Funch was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Funch wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Faber.
Faber prevents Funch from getting the reversal.
Funch tries to control Faber's body but Faber pushes him off. Funch squirms to his side and now Faber has his back!
Faber is trying to stick to Funch's back but Funch is turning into Faber. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Faber's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Funch.

Faber is staying active underneath Funch, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Funch seems to be looking for submissions.

Faber is defending against the submission attempts here by Funch.
Funch is pressing down on Faber's thigh, looking to free his foot. Faber is holding on for now.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ricardo Funch will probably get the nod.

Funch wants to finish this one by submission but Faber is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Funch.
Faber is in all sorts of trouble here.

Well Funch has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
