Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ardbeg Islay (ranked 5224 p4p, 3833 weight class) and Pete Erceg (ranked 562 p4p, 450 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ardbeg Islay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pete Erceg!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Islay throws the left hand but Erceg avoids the punch easily.

Islay closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Erceg to the mat! Erceg manages to get full guard.
Islay postures up.
Islay won't allow Erceg to sweep him here.
Islay wants to control from the top but Erceg keeps moving.
Erceg looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Islay stands up over Erceg, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Islay stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Erceg swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Islay is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Erceg throws his legs up looking for a submission but Islay uses it to pass to side control.
Erceg wants to control but Islay postures up.

Islay cracks Erceg with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Erceg tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Islay wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Erceg takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Islay tries to move to mount but Erceg blocks the move with his legs.
Erceg manages to work his way to half guard, despite Islay's best efforts.
Erceg has hold of Islay's hands but Islay slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Well, if Islay is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Islay is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Islay seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Islay wants to control from the top but Erceg keeps moving.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Erceg will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Erceg gets caught napping as Islay dives in and scores a takedown. Erceg manages to retain guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Erceg tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Islay throws an elbow that misses. Erceg uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Islay's guard. Nice move by Erceg!

That's time! Islay's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Islay changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Erceg looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Erceg is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Islay's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Islay's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Islay tries to free his leg and advance position but Erceg is retaining full guard.

Islay might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Erceg is looking for a sweep. Islay is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Islay is thwarting Erceg's attempts to control the position.
Islay is stalling here. Erceg is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Islay seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Erceg has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Erceg is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Islay has escaped the position, nice work there.

Erceg looking to control but instead Islay has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Islay is staying active underneath Erceg, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Islay keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Islay is not content to let Erceg control the position.

Islay on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Islay tries to get out of the position.
Erceg looks to land a strike but Islay avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Islay knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Erceg on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Islay on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Islay throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Erceg sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Erceg throws a hook but Islay avoids it easily.
Islay uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Erceg.
Islay is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Erceg can do to turn this around?
Erceg fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Erceg is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Islay.
Pete Erceg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Islay lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Islay works to advance to full mount. Erceg defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Islay lands with some strikes.
Islay takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Erceg really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Islay can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Erceg is looking to escape.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ardbeg Islay showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Islay, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
