PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Anwar Hussin (ranked 4397 p4p, 4473 weight class) and Daroshev Faroshev (ranked 453 p4p, 464 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Anwar Hussin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Daroshev Faroshev!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Daniel Bishop and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Nice straight punches there by Faroshev. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Faroshev.

It looks like Anwar Hussin has been cut.
Hussin misses with a hook.
Faroshev missing with a left hand there. Hussin was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Hussin is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Faroshev looks like he wants to counter punch here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Faroshev uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hussin.
A little jabbing left from Faroshev on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Hussin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Faroshev swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Faroshev throws out a counter right but Hussin avoids it with no problem.

Faroshev cracks Hussin with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Faroshev has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Hussin to stand back up!

Hussin is rocked!
Hussin is looking to clinch but Faroshev is avoiding it.
Hussin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Faroshev swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Faroshev looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Hussin rushes Faroshev and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Faroshev misses with an elbow strike.

Hussin is fighting off a takedown attempt but Faroshev is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Hussin to the mat. Hussin regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Hussin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Faroshev doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Faroshev manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Faroshev looking to sit in guard and control but Hussin gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Faroshev looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hussin is one step ahead there.
Faroshev not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Faroshev can do anything to dispel that myth.
Hussin slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Faroshev.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hussin connects with a nice short shot to Faroshev's temple.
Faroshev tries to roll over but Hussin keeps him under control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hussin lands a nice short elbow.

Hussin lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Hussin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hussin throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Faroshev wants to control the action here but instead Hussin manages to pass to full mount!
Hussin lands a big shot there that rocks Faroshev but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Faroshev keeps the fight on the outside.
Faroshev swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Hussin moves forwards but Faroshev connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Daroshev Faroshev seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Faroshev jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Hussin gets a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Faroshev presses Hussin against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Faroshev pulls guard.

Faroshev wants to stand up but Hussin is controlling him.
Hussin throws a big elbow that misses.
Hussin won't allow Faroshev to sweep him here.
Hussin sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Faroshev is trying to keep Hussin in close.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hussin staying out of range there.
Hussin changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Faroshev gets tackled into the cage by Hussin. Hussin maintains the clinch.
Faroshev stalling against the cage.

Faroshev gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Hussin regains guard.
Hussin is pulling down on Faroshev's head to control his posture.
Hussin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Faroshev manages to get himself to full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Faroshev looking for subs off his back but Hussin has passed one foot through into half guard.
Hussin winds up and cracks Faroshev with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hussin is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Faroshev's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Anwar Hussin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hussin looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Faroshev is defending well. Hussin quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Faroshev has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Hussin celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
