Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Van Franklin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dana Redd!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Thiago Cunha and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Franklin fails with a takedown attempt.
Franklin closes the distance and clinches.
The referee is keeping an eye on Franklin - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Franklin controlling the action here for a moment.
A left hand lands to the body for Franklin.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Franklin lands a damaging elbow.
Franklin manages to break the clinch.
Franklin shoots for a double leg takedown but Redd sprawls well. He's pushed Franklin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Franklin misses with a takedown attempt
and Redd counters with a single leg into guard. Franklin didn't expect that.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Van Franklin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Redd wants to control from the top but Franklin keeps moving.

Franklin has Redd pulled in close to control his posture.
Redd is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Franklin wants to sweep but no luck.
Redd decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Redd leaves Franklin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Redd.
Franklin tries a head kick but it misses.
It seemed like Redd was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Franklin throws a series of punches but Redd moves out of range.
Franklin moves into the clinch.
Redd is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Redd is trying to break the clinch but Franklin has him pressed against the cage.
Franklin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Franklin pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nice sprawl there from Redd as Franklin shoots in.

and Redd counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Redd.
Franklin is breathing heavily.

Redd trying to control the action but Franklin is working from the bottom.
Franklin is trying to control Redd's posture. Redd takes advantage of the lull and advances to side control. He also appears to have an arm triangle here! Uh oh, big trouble for Franklin! Redd is rotating here... this could be the end... Franklin is out! Redd has ended this one emphatically! Great submission!
