Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Virgil Albers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bob Johnson! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
It looks like Bob Johnson has been cut. Johnson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Albers tries to avoid it but Johnson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Albers to the ground. Albers escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Bob Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Johnson throws a sloppy head kick and Albers moves out of range easily. Albers swats away the attempt to clinch by Johnson. Good standup being displayed there by Albers as he connects with a hook. Johnson tries a head kick but it misses.
A punch lands to the side of Johnson 's head but he takes it in his stride. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Albers lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Johnson circles away quickly and effectively. Albers feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Johnson sprawling to the canvas! Johnson rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Albers finish him?!
Johnson is rocked! Johnson is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Johnson is still on wobbly legs! Can Albers finish him? Albers moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Johnson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Johnson seems to have recovered his senses. Albers keeps the fight on the outside. Johnson throws a hook but Albers avoids it easily. Johnson slips a jab and a cross from Albers.
That's one minute gone in the round. Albers connects with a crisp jab. Albers keeps the fight on the outside. Albers misses with a two punch combination.
Johnson wants to clinch. Johnson tries to clinch up but Albers circles away and keeps his distance. Johnson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A punch combination from Albers misses. Albers throws a series of punches but Johnson avoids them all with ease. Johnson throws a head kick that misses. Albers swats away the attempt to clinch by Johnson. Horrible takedown by Johnson or perhaps it was just good defense by Albers which made him look bad.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Johnson takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Johnson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Johnson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Virgil Albers is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Johnson fails in his attempt to clinch. Albers throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A right-left combo lands from Albers. Albers rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Johnson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Johnson lands a front kick. Johnson has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
That has opened up Bob Johnson's cut even more. Albers lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Johnson gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Albers looks to land a combination but Johnson avoids it well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Albers swats him away and circles back towards the center. Johnson tries to clinch but Albers is having none of it. Albers lands a with a good body shot. A big left from Johnson misses. Albers getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Johnson throws a nice head kick!
Albers scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Albers scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Johnson looks gassed! Johnson looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Albers! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This has been an exciting period of action! Johnson wants to control the pace but Albers is squirming around nicely. Albers is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Albers turns into him and now he's in Johnson's guard.

Albers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Albers stands and steps away. Johnson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Virgil Albers dominated that round. The cut man is working on Bob Johnson's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Johnson fails in his attempt to clinch. Albers scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Albers cracks Johnson with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Johnson clinches up against the cage. A short right from Albers. Johnson using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Albers has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
A short right from Albers. With the fighters up against the cage, Johnson throws an elbow but misses. Albers pushes Johnson back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Albers on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Johnson is breathing heavily. Albers looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Johnson trying to land knees to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Albers lands a right hand. Albers wants to break free but Johnson has control.

The cut above Bob Johnson's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Johnson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Johnson is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Johnson takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Johnson shoots for a double leg takedown but Albers sprawls well. He's pushed Johnson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Albers dances in with a quick combination. Johnson is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Albers snaps Johnson's head back. Johnson stumbles backwards against the cage. Albers steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Johnson's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Johnson just didn't come prepared.
