PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Conrad Cartwright (ranked 1927 p4p, 23510 weight class) and Omnicron Bilesdon (ranked 211 p4p, 501 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Conrad Cartwright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Omnicron Bilesdon!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Skip Squint and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bilesdon fails with the takedown
and Cartwright counters with a stiff right hand.
Cartwright looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Bilesdon gets a double leg takedown into Cartwright's guard.
Bilesdon trying to control but Cartwright is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cartwright is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bilesdon is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Cartwright managing to control the position.

Bilesdon slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Cartwright is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Bilesdon is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Bilesdon rushes Cartwright and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Cartwright misses with a hook to the ribs.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cartwright is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Bilesdon's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Bilesdon blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Cartwright lands a body shot in the clinch.
Cartwright lands with a light punch inside.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Cartwright.

Cartwright manages to break the clinch.
Bilesdon shoots for a takedown but Cartwright saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Cartwright waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Bilesdon.
Some wild striking there from Bilesdon.

and Cartwright counters with a nice body shot.
Conrad Cartwright has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Omnicron Bilesdon.
Bilesdon looks winded!

Bilesdon dives in for a single leg takedown but Cartwright sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Cartwright throws a big counter combination but Bilesdon scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Cartwright will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Omnicron Bilesdon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bilesdon rushes Cartwright and presses him up against the cage.
Cartwright trying to control the position but instead, Bilesdon has worked for underhooks and has pushed Cartwright into the cage.
Cartwright lands a right hand.
Cartwright using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Bilesdon has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Cartwright misses with a punch on the inside.
Bilesdon looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Cartwright throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Bilesdon blocks it with crossed arms.

Cartwright escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bilesdon uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Cartwright.
Bilesdon tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cartwright was well out of range. Poor timing from Bilesdon.
Bilesdon doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Cartwright cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Cartwright uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Bilesdon has time to react.

Bilesdon fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Cartwright, pushing him back against the cage.

Bilesdon jumps guard and drags Cartwright to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bilesdon avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Cartwright throws a big elbow that misses.
Cartwright tries to free his leg and advance position but Bilesdon is retaining full guard.
Bilesdon is trying to keep Cartwright in close.
Bilesdon wants to sweep but no luck.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Conrad Cartwright dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Cartwright slaps away a takedown attempt from Bilesdon, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Cartwright throws a looping overhand right but Bilesdon ducks down to avoid it.
Cartwright misses with a hook. Bilesdon ducked under it nicely.
Bilesdon shoots in but Cartwright avoids the takedown attempt easily.
An attempted straight right counter from Cartwright misses the target.
Bilesdon tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cartwright swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Omnicron Bilesdon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Cartwright counters with a nice uppercut.
Conrad Cartwright has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Omnicron Bilesdon.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bilesdon tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Cartwright swivels and escapes.

Cartwright thows a left - swing and a miss!
Bilesdon throws a counter combo.
Bilesdon gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Cartwright counters with a big right hand! Oh Bilesdon is in trouble here! Cartwright follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Conrad Cartwright!
