This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 41 wins and 23 losses; Vasiliy Kulik! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 25 wins and 14 losses; Tyron Scott! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Paul Tew and James Atkins.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Kulik pushes Scott up against the cage in a clinch. Kulik tries to pull guard but Scott forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Kulik successfully pulls guard.
Scott is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Kulik looking for a sweep. Not yet Kulik, not yet. Scott trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kulik is trying to control the position from the bottom.
My spies in Hammer House of Horror inform me that Scott has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Scott sitting in guard here, content to control. Scott stopping the sweep attempt from Kulik. Kulik has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Scott wants to pass the guard but Kulik is keeping the position. Kulik is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kulik has his hands on Scott's head, controlling the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kulik is trying to control the position but Scott postures up. Kulik is pulling down on Scott's head to control his posture. Kulik is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Kulik keeping hold of Scott's head, controlling as best he can. Kulik is looking to improve his position.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Scott stalling. Kulik is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Scott looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Scott prevents Kulik from improving his position. Scott is controlling the pace.
Kulik tries to roll over but Scott keeps him under control.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Scott has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Score +3 for passing guard: Kulik (0) vs (3) Scott Kulik is wriggling around trying to escape.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Kulik slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Scott controlling the action here. Kulik tries to roll over but Scott keeps him under control. Kulik is trying to maintain the position but Scott is very close to passing his half guard.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Scott trying to pass the guard but Kulik defending well. Scott not doing much here.

Kulik wants to get back to full guard. Scott takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Kulik really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Kulik is trying is best to control the position here. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Kulik is trying to maintain the position but Scott is very close to passing his half guard. Kulik is holding on to half guard well. Scott is controlling the pace.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Kulik moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Scott preventing the sweep. Scott passes easily into side control. Nice work. Score +3 for passing guard: Kulik (0) vs (6) Scott
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Scott working away. Kulik seems a little lost for a moment, as Scott dominates the positioning. Let's hope that Scott has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Kulik's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Kulik manages to get back to half guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Scott tries to pass to full mount but Kulik defends it. Scott is taking a breather. Kulik says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
