PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tamaz Tsiklauri (ranked 5276 p4p, 5466 weight class) and Frank Wallace (ranked 466 p4p, 472 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tamaz Tsiklauri!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Frank Wallace!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Anni Minnemäki and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wallace throws an overhand right that lands on Tsiklauri's shoulder, as Tsiklauri tries to avoid the shot.

Wallace moves into the clinch.

Tsiklauri breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Wallace misses with the combination.
Tsiklauri throws a head kick but Wallace moves out of range.
Wallace throws a counter combo.
Tsiklauri smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Tsiklauri scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Tsiklauri lands a nice looking body kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tsiklauri lands a jab to the nose.
Wallace swings widly with a right hand
enabling Tsiklauri to counter with a crisp jab.
Wallace tries to clinch but Tsiklauri moves out of range.
Wallace looks to land a combination but Tsiklauri avoids it well.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Wallace has taken the fight to the clinch.
Wallace is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Tsiklauri is defending well for now.

Tsiklauri breaks from the clinch.
Sloppy strikes from Wallace. Those never looked like landing.
Tsiklauri fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Wallace has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Tsiklauri tries a head kick but it misses.

Wallace clinches with his opponent.
Tsiklauri is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Wallace is keeping busy.
Tsiklauri lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Tsiklauri breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Wallace takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Wallace looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Tsiklauri slips a jab from Wallace.
Tsiklauri tried to counter with a leg kick but Wallace avoided it.

Wallace clinches up against the cage.
Tsiklauri lands a body punch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wallace drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Tsiklauri gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Wallace tries to circle away but Tsiklauri has him pinned against the cage.

Tsiklauri pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Tamaz Tsiklauri is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Tsiklauri scores with a crisp jab that stopped Wallace in his tracks.
Wallace changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Tsiklauri tries to avoid it but Wallace manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Tsiklauri to the ground. Tsiklauri escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A quick step to the side and Tsiklauri tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Tsiklauri fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Wallace looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Wallace rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Tsiklauri makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Tsiklauri is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Tsiklauri lands a big head kick that sends Wallace to the canvas! Tsiklauri follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tamaz Tsiklauri!
Our winner, Tamaz Tsiklauri, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
