This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 31 wins and 25 losses; Tres Sulvar! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 33 wins and 23 losses; Amir Ziyaeddin! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Mauricio Rocha and Thiago Cunha.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Sulvar tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ziyaeddin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sulvar somewhat. Ziyaeddin forces Sulvar back against the ropes and clinches. Ziyaeddin pulls Sulvar into guard.
Ziyaeddin is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sulvar defends well. Ziyaeddin has his foot on Sulvar's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sulvar works his way back into a safe position though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sulvar sitting in guard here, content to control.

Sulvar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ziyaeddin keeps working. Ziyaeddin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sulvar is working away from the top position though. Ziyaeddin is doing well to control the position and prevent Sulvar from advancing to side control.

That's nine minutes gone in the round. Sulvar trying to control the action but Ziyaeddin is working from the bottom. The referee asks Sulvar politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Sulvar prefers to stall for the moment though.

He's bucked Sulvar off and has taken his back! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Sulvar (8) vs (4) Ziyaeddin The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Sulvar prevents Ziyaeddin from getting a body triangle. Ziyaeddin not allowing Sulvar to control his hands. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Ziyaeddin has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Sulvar's body.

Sulvar is working hard here to advance position. Sulvar trying to control the action but Ziyaeddin just sinks the hooks in. Sulvar is in bad spot here.
Ziyaeddin working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Ziyaeddin doesn't have the hooks in and Sulvar manages to turn into his guard.

That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Ziyaeddin working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Sulvar has passed into half guard!

That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Sulvar stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ziyaeddin swivels though and keeps the full guard. Sulvar got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ziyaeddin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sulvar has managed to get both his arms back between Ziyaeddin's legs - danger averted. Ziyaeddin not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Sulvar trying to control the position from guard on top but Ziyaeddin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ziyaeddin is trying to control the position but Sulvar postures up.
And that's the end of the fight! Sulvar takes the fight on points by 10 to 4. After winning the bout, Tres Sulvar thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. |
