The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Everett drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Everett (2) vs (0) The Flamingo The Flamingo keeping moving, preventing Everett from controlling successfully. The Flamingo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Everett defends it easily. Everett is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Everett passes into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. That's nine minutes gone in the round. Everett has the hooks in. The Flamingo is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. The Flamingo fending off the submission attempt from Everett. Everett controls the action. The Flamingo tries to escape but Everett has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Everett working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. The Flamingo wants to control his opponent's hands but Everett gets his hands free.

Everett is looking to control The Flamingo but The Flamingo is wriggling around and keeping busy. The Flamingo trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. The Flamingo is trying to break free.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Everett is looking for a choke. The Flamingo gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. The Flamingo manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Everett keeping full guard, as The Flamingo tries to pass. Everett is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. The Flamingo is aware though and is defending well.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. The Flamingo tries to free his leg and advance position but Everett is retaining full guard. Everett working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. The Flamingo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. The Flamingo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The Flamingo avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The Flamingo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Everett swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Everett keeping moving, preventing The Flamingo from controlling successfully. The Flamingo looking to sit in guard and control but Everett gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Everett (11) vs (4) The Flamingo Everett trying to control the position from guard on top but The Flamingo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Everett is really struggling to control The Flamingo but he's trying to hold on to the position. Everett looking to pass the guard.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. The Flamingo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Everett gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. The Flamingo looking for a sweep. Not yet The Flamingo, not yet. The Flamingo trying to keep a closed guard but Everett is proving a slippery customer.
