PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sao Alela (ranked 1068 p4p, 1016 weight class) and Wesley Clark (ranked 136 p4p, 128 weight class). Alela comes to the cage accompanied by Cryin' Like a Bitch. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alela throws a lazy right hand but Clark sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A chopping leg kick lands by Alela.
Alela looks to score with a jab to the body but Clark is just out of range.
Clark throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Alela is looking to score with low kicks.
Clark misses with an attempted mid kick.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Clark avoids the body shot from Alela.
Alela doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Clark slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Alela looks up at the clock and then as Clark takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Alela smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Alela tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Alela has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Clark stops Alela from passing to mount.
Clark seems a little lost for a moment, as Alela dominates the positioning.
Alela is looking to take a break and control but Clark is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Alela advances nicely into full mount.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Clark stops Alela from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Alela swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Clark is now in Alela's guard. A big mistake from Alela there, giving up the dominant position!

Clark must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

It looked like Alela wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Clark dives in and grabs Alela's left leg, looking for a takedown. Alela pushes down on Clark's head and hops out.
Clark looks to throw the jab but Alela is out of range.
Alela steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Clark.
Alela lands a body shot.
Clark's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Alela connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Clark scrambles back to his feet.

Clark has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Clark there as he acknowledges the shot.
Clark looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Alela is fending him off so far but Clark persists. Nope, Alela circles away and we're back to standing.

and Alela counters with a nice low kick that buckles Clark's knee momentarily.

Alela shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Clark is trying to defend but Alela finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Alela is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Clark sees it coming and defends easily.
Alela is keen to just control but Clark is a slippery customer.

Alela is looking for a kimura but Clark is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Alela to get the leverage.
Alela wants to lay and pray for a moment but Clark keeps working.
Alela is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Clark reverses the position - he's now on top in Alela's guard.

Alela has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Clark is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Clark's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Alela tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Clark's elbow.
Alela misses with a body punch.
Alela is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Clark gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Alela lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Clark changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Wesley Clark showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Alela throws a right hand that Clark ducks under and follows up with a left that Clark also avoids with ease.

Clark cracks Alela with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Clark has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Alela to stand back up!

Clark dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Alela has had enough and taps out.
