Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Freddie McGee (ranked 4034 p4p, 2880 weight class) and Grant Daws (ranked 442 p4p, 342 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think McGee might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to bat outta hell song. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Freddie McGee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 2 - 1, fighting out of London, Grant Daws ! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Chad Campbell and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Daws throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. McGee tries for a takedown but Daws circles away easily and Daws counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Daws tries to close the distance and clinch up but McGee swats him away and circles back towards the center. Daws slaps away a takedown attempt from McGee, before circling back to the center of the mat. Daws appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. McGee with a lazy takedown attempt and Daws makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Freddie McGee. That's going to take a lot out of him. McGee takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McGee clinches up against the cage. We've been informed that Daws has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Daws misses with a punch to the body.
McGee's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Daws lands a body punch in the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Daws prevents the takedown attempt.
Daws is pushing McGee up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. McGee blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Daws lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McGee tightens his grip and picks Daws up, before dumping him to the ground. Daws manages to land in guard. McGee being controlled here momentarily. McGee working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McGee throws a strike but Daws rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Daws controls from within his opponent's guard. McGee scores with a short punch from the bottom. McGee being controlled here, momentarily. Daws advances to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McGee flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Daws frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Daws controlling his opponent. McGee is looking to improve his position but Daws isn't that keen on the idea. Daws moves to the back. McGee is in bad spot here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McGee is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Daws .
McGee tries to escape but Daws has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Daws avoiding McGee 's attempts to control his hands. Daws has good solid back control here. Daws 's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Daws has the hooks in. McGee is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

McGee gets the takedown into side control. The ground and pound from McGee seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Daws is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. McGee stands up over Daws , holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Daws is on top in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. McGee controls Daws momentarily but Daws frees himself. Daws has been the more effective fighter overall so far. McGee thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. McGee on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if McGee tries to get out of the position. McGee doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
McGee lands a good elbow from the bottom. Daws is pushing down on McGee's leg trying to pass to half guard. McGee is fighting to maintain full guard but Daws has managed to sneak the leg through. McGee wants to sweep but Daws has passed to side control! McGee can't do much from the bottom here. McGee is looking for a sweep.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McGee throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land. McGee sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. McGee looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. McGee is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Daws has latched onto it... Big trouble! Daws pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it McGee is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Daws !
