PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dawindi Buktot (ranked 23938 p4p, 23889 weight class) and Kulata Bitok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 45 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 48 - 5, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kulata Bitok!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Buktot closes the distance and clinches up with Bitok, looking for a takedown. Buktot pushes Bitok against the cage but Bitok circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Bitok throws a big counter head kick but Buktot avoids it with no problem.
Buktot shoots in but Bitok avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Buktot misses with a takedown attempt
and Bitok counters with a good, hard body kick but Buktot shrugs it off.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dawindi Buktot. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bitok is trying hard to land a takedown here. Buktot sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Buktot quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Bitok fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Buktot avoids it really well and circles away.
Buktot shoots in but Bitok avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Bitok fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Buktot thinks about countering with a body kick.
Bitok tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Buktot swivels and escapes.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Bitok moves out of range as Buktot throws a body kick.
Bitok steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.

Buktot gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Buktot scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Buktot feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bitok is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Buktot half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Buktot closes the distance and clinches up with Bitok, looking for a takedown. Buktot pushes Bitok against the cage but Bitok circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Buktot takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Buktot gets caught napping as Bitok dives in and scores a takedown. Buktot manages to retain guard.

Bitok is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Buktot is pulling down on Bitok's head. It's preventing any offense from Bitok, at least for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Buktot can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bitok controls the pace.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Bitok trying to control the position from guard on top but Buktot is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bitok forces his way into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dawindi Buktot will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Bitok scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Bitok is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Let's hope that Bitok has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

and Buktot counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bitok is defended easily by Buktot.

Bitok throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Buktot is looking to counter with a shot to the body.

Bitok feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Bitok is fighting to break Buktot's control of his arms but Buktot is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Buktot has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Buktot seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Buktot wants to sweep here but Bitok controlling him for the moment.

Kulata Bitok comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
