This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 0 losses; Lysander Birdwhistle! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 3 losses; Young Blood! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shigeki Sano and Yuuki Gou.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Birdwhistle closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes. Blood is fighting off a takedown attempt but Birdwhistle is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Blood to the mat. Blood regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Birdwhistle (2) vs (0) Blood Birdwhistle passes Blood's left leg - he's now in half guard. Blood is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Birdwhistle is working for a kimura but Blood is defending it quite comfortably.
Birdwhistle wants to pass the guard but Blood is defending well. Blood is trying to get back to full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Birdwhistle looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Blood is trying to maintain the position but Birdwhistle is very close to passing his half guard.

Blood tries to improve his position but Birdwhistle has taken his back! Birdwhistle has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Blood tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Birdwhistle pushes Blood away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
