The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Birdwhistle closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
Blood is fighting off a takedown attempt but Birdwhistle is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Blood to the mat. Blood regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Birdwhistle (2) vs (0) Blood
Birdwhistle passes Blood's left leg - he's now in half guard.
