PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dwight Shrute (ranked 3358 p4p, 23872 weight class) and Un Kha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shrute comes to the cage accompanied by Battlestart Galactica theme. The crowd seem to be enjoying Kha's choice of entrance music: Eye of the tiger. Shrute has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Un Kha has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dwight Shrute!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 29 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Un Kha!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shrute stuffs the takedown.
Shrute is breathing heavily.

Kha closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Kha is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Shrute defends it well.
Kha performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Kha seems to be working for a kimura but Shrute defends the submission attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kha wants to pass the guard but Shrute is defending well.

Kha is looking for a kimura here.

Shrute has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kha is working away from the top position though.

Kha is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Kha is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Shrute doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kha.
Shrute makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Shrute.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Shrute looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kha is one step ahead there.
Kha is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Kha connects with a couple of short punches.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kha is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Kha's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Kha must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Let's hope that Kha has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Kha manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Shrute on his heels. He'll look to pass Shrute's guard now, I'm sure.

Kha looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Kha tries to free his leg and advance position but Shrute is retaining full guard.
Kha sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kha slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Un Kha dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Kha scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Shrute pushes Kha off but Kha dives into side control.
Shrute trying to remain calm as Kha controls from the top position.

Kha tries for a kimura but Shrute is defending well.

Kha is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Shrute has escaped the position, nice work there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kha working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kha content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Kha tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Shrute being controlled for a moment.
Kha is working Shrute over with some ground and pound from side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kha is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Shrute knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Kha has an Americana. Shrute didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Kha is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Kha hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Un Kha!
A less than humble Un Kha misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
