Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov (ranked 841 p4p, 47 weight class) and Chris John (ranked 102 p4p, 6 weight class). John has chosen Don't Stop Me Now as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Chris John enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Khabib Nurmagomedov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris John!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
John goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
It looks like Khabib Nurmagomedov has been cut.
Nurmagomedov has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Nurmagomedov there as he acknowledges the shot.
John throws a body punch but Nurmagomedov moves out of range.
Nurmagomedov was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
John looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Nurmagomedov half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
John is looking to score with low kicks.
John throws a one two combo.
John throws a hook to the side of Nurmagomedov's head but Nurmagomedov sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Nurmagomedov gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
John misses the shot to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nurmagomedov fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
A big left from John misses.
A looping hook to the body misses from John. Nurmagomedov does a little dance to reset his feet.

and Nurmagomedov counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

John is staying active underneath Nurmagomedov, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
John tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Nurmagomedov manages to move to mount!
BOOM! Nurmagomedov connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Nurmagomedov won't let John get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

John is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

John is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
John has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
John is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
John is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Nurmagomedov is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. John can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
John tries to hold on but Nurmagomedov postures up.

Nurmagomedov has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of John's face.

Nurmagomedov takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
