Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tom Hanks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Patrick Nielson!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nielson circles away from the clinch attempt
and Hanks takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Hanks pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Hanks with a poor takedown
and Nielson counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Nielson throws an off balance right hand
and Hanks counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Nielson!
Hanks wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Nielson, who protects the arm well.
Who's going to make the next move?
Hanks tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hanks has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Nielson is looking for a sweep.
Hanks goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Nielson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Hanks but great work by Nielson.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Nielson working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hanks manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Hanks wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nielson keeps working.

Nielson has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Hanks. Oh but Nielson has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Hanks goes limp - he's gone! Nielson jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Patrick Nielson decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
