Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Quinten Simon (ranked 3967 p4p, 3160 weight class) and Alex Jota (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jota has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Alex Jota has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Quinten Simon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alex Jota! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Anthony Taglia and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Simon instigates a clinch. Jota looks winded! Simon manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Simon is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Simon could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Simon trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Jota drops back looking for a leg! Simon is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Simon manages to kick Jota off! Jota jumps back into Simon's guard. Simon is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jota defends well. Simon on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Simon tries to get out of the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Simon keeping moving, preventing Jota from controlling successfully. Jota might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Simon haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Simon looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Simon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jota doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jota manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Simon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jota on the ground. Simon looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Simon wants to get back to his feet but Jota is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Jota wants to clinch up but Simon keeps it at a distance. Jota tries to clinch but Simon is having none of it. Simon throws a big counter combination but Jota scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Simon clinches with his opponent.
Jota fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Simon has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Jota clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Simon wants to control but Jota is keeping busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Simon working for a choke but Jota is defending well. Will Simon go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Simon misses with a punch to the head. Simon is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Jota knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Jota for a finish.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Simon slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Jota prevents Simon from improving his position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Simon is trying to stand.

Quinten Simon dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. A combination from Simon does no damage. Jota takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Simon is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jota sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Simon drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Simon has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jota is proving hard to escape from. Simon trying to control the position from guard on top but Jota is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jota has a closed guard, preventing Simon from standing up. Jota is breathing heavily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jota is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round. Jota keeping full guard, as Simon tries to pass. Simon is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jota can do to turn this around? Simon is looking to work some ground and pound but Jota has wrist control.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Jota is looking to clinch. Simon clinches up against the cage. Simon fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Simon is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jota is aware though and is defending well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Simon will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jota slips nicely into half guard. Jota wants to work for an arm triangle but Simon is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Jota is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Simon trying to control but Jota postures up.

Simon is trying to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jota is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Simon defends it well. Jota is thwarting Simon's attempts to control the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Simon throws the kick towards the body but Jota avoids it. Simon sets himself, and Jota steps forward looking for the clinch! Simon avoids it this time. Simon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jota tries to avoid it but Simon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jota to the ground. Jota escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Quinten Simon. That's going to take a lot out of him. Simon bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Jota is not content to let Simon control the position. Simon tries to stand but Jota is controlling his head. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Jota is looking to regain half guard here but Simon keeps moving and retains side control. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Simon closes the distance and clinches. Simon slowing the pace effectively. Jota tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Simon fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Simon shoots for a takedown but Jota saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Simon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Jota stuffs the takedown attempt from Simon. Simon gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Quinten Simon. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jota tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Simon manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Simon goes for a double leg but Jota avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Jota continues to drive forward. Simon decides to pull guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Simon is wriggling around but Jota manages to pass to half guard.
Jota is working for a submission of some sort.
Jota wants to lay and pray for a moment but Simon keeps working. Simon wants to improve his position but Jota is controlling well.
Simon wants to control but Jota is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Simon misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Jota works his foot free and advances to mount. Simon tries to lock up and control but Jota gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Quinten Simon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Jota working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Simon is trying desperately to improve position. Jota avoids the attempt from Simon to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jota can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Simon is looking to escape. Simon is trying to reverse the position but instead Jota has taken his back - oops! Jota has the hooks in. Simon is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Well, with Jota on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Simon is tapping out... Can he escape the position? Jota looking for the rear naked choke. And he's got it! Simon taps!
