Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sim Hwan (ranked 4044 p4p, 25205 weight class) and Kristopher Savage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hwan comes to the cage accompanied by The Chant of Metta (Pali). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sim Hwan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kristopher Savage! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hwan keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Hwan is looking to counter punch. Savage closes the distance and clinches. Savage is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Savage blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Hwan misses with a hook from the clinch. Savage manages to pull guard.
Hwan stopping the sweep attempt from Savage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hwan wants to stand but Savage has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Savage is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Savage managing to control the position.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Savage keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A jab from Hwan does it's job there.
It looks like Kristopher Savage has been cut. Hwan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Savage was well out of range. Poor timing from Hwan.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hwan misses the jab. Hwan throws a right hand that Savage ducks under and follows up with a left that Savage also avoids with ease. Savage rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hwan moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Savage has a takedown stuffed. Hwan is looking to counter punch. Nice takedown defense from Hwan. No joy for Savage on that attempt. Sim Hwan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kristopher Savage. Savage changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hwan tries to avoid it but Savage manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hwan to the ground. Hwan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Hwan throws a shot from downtown. Savage moves away and avoids it. Savage is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Savage staying out of range there. Hwan misses with a hook. Hwan missing with a left hand there. Savage was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Savage ducks under a wild hook from Hwan. Savage avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Savage looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hwan tries to bum rush Savage with a series of wild strikes but Savage uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Savage steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hwan. A jab from Hwan misses. Savage is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Hwan avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hwan misses with a looping right. Hwan throws a left and a right that both miss
and Hwan takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Hwan throws a jab when Savage was well out of range. Savage on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Savage looks winded! Hwan moves out of range as Savage throws a body kick.
Hwan misses with a hook. Savage throws a low kick but it's checked well by Hwan. Savage keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hwan. Hwan is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Hwan throws a series of punches but Savage moves out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Savage tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hwan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Savage somewhat. Hwan lands a jab to the nose. Savage slips a straight right by Hwan. This has been an exciting period of action! Savage tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hwan swivels and escapes. Savage moves out of range as Hwan strikes. The fighters circling - Hwan throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Hwan scores with a nice head shot. Hwan cracks Savage with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Savage falls to his knees and Hwan doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sim Hwan!
