PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Travis Carter (ranked 24936 p4p, 25110 weight class) and Kael Conner (ranked 547 p4p, 533 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Travis Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kael Conner!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Marco Blurström and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter shoots in for a takedown but Conner shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Conner takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Carter gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Conner to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Conner looking to pass the guard.
Conner is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carter keeping moving, preventing Conner from controlling successfully.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Conner chips away with some ground and pound.
Carter utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Conner shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Conner was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Conner trying to control the position but Carter is working away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Carter is looking for a sweep.
Carter is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Conner is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Carter tries to hold on but Conner postures up.
Carter working to try and regain half guard.
Conner looks winded!

Carter sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Carter is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Conner pulls his head out easily.
Conner is trying to control. Carter wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Carter is looking to control Conner's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Carter avoid being mounted?

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Conner in particular looking to stall.

Conner is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Carter has managed to free his arm - good work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Carter instigates a clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Carter landing some nice looking knees to the body.

Carter has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Conner uses from the top position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Travis Carter will probably get the nod.

Conner tries to pull guard but Carter won't allow it.

Carter lands a takedown into guard.
Conner is looking to stand back up but Carter counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Conner.

Conner wants to control but Carter is keeping busy.
Conner is trying to stand back up but Carter is controlling him
Conner is breathing heavily.

Carter is taking a breather. Conner says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Carter is trying to control. Conner wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Conner has hold of Carter's hands but Carter slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Carter lands with a punch from half guard.
Conner wants to control but Carter is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Carter decides to stand and escape the position.

Carter closes the distance and clinches.

Carter pulls guard effortlessly.
Carter is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Conner preventing the sweep.
Conner trying to control the position from guard on top but Carter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Carter lands some strikes from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Carter lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Carter has Conner up against the cage in a clinch.

Carter has Conner pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Carter pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Conner tumbling to the mat - Carter dives into Conner's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Conner is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Carter is aware though and is defending well.

Carter stands up and waves to Conner to follow him.
Carter lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Carter gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Carter ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Carter no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Conner has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Carter to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Conner is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Carter pulls down on the head and he's put Conner to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Travis Carter!
