PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sandy Conner (ranked 25108 p4p, 25107 weight class) and Nickolas Benjamin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Conner has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sandy Conner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nickolas Benjamin!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Alexandre Firmino and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Benjamin drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Conner is breathing heavily.

Benjamin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Benjamin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Benjamin is trying to get an arm triangle but Conner is defending well.
Benjamin is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Benjamin decides to stand back up.

Benjamin moves into the clinch successfully.

Benjamin breaks from the clinch.

Benjamin scores with a takedown into Conner's guard.
Conner wants to get back to his feet but Benjamin passes into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Conner might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Benjamin stands up and beckons Conner to join him on the feet.

Benjamin has Conner up against the cage in a clinch.

Benjamin has hold of one of Conner's legs. Conner is fighting the takedown attempt but Benjamin gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Benjamin lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Benjamin stays in close to Conner's body and controls the position.

Benjamin gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Benjamin gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Benjamin is pushing Conner up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Benjamin ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Benjamin no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Benjamin is pulling down on Conner's head. It's preventing any offense from Conner, at least for the moment.
Benjamin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Conner's guard.


Benjamin stands up from Conner's guard - Benjamin perhaps looking for a knockout.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Benjamin forces Conner back against the cage and clinches.

Benjamin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Benjamin closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Benjamin pulls guard successfully.
Benjamin has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Benjamin has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Conner is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Nickolas Benjamin dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Benjamin lands a big head kick that sends Conner to the canvas! Benjamin follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nickolas Benjamin!
