Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Blaze Cunningham (ranked 3283 p4p, 5418 weight class) and Owen Carrillo (ranked 376 p4p, 501 weight class). Owen Carrillo is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Blaze Cunningham!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Owen Carrillo!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cunningham closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Carrillo quickly recovers to half guard.

Carrillo manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Cunningham keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Cunningham pulls Carrillo into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carrillo wanted to stand there but Cunningham had control of the position.
Cunningham is controlling Carrillo's posture.
Carrillo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cunningham. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Carrillo wants to stand and escape but instead Cunningham has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Carrillo can't keep his opponent in guard - Cunningham advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cunningham works his foot free and advances to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cunningham is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Carrillo's half guard.
Carrillo tries to roll over but Cunningham keeps him under control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Carrillo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Still in half guard, Cunningham seems content to control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Blaze Cunningham seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Carrillo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Carrillo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Carrillo keeping moving, preventing Cunningham from controlling successfully.
Cunningham lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Carrillo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cunningham can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Cunningham postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Cunningham got a little sloppy there for a moment and Carrillo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cunningham has managed to get both his arms back between Carrillo's legs - danger averted.
Cunningham stays in close to Carrillo's body and controls the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Cunningham bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cunningham looks up at the clock and then as Carrillo takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Cunningham smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Cunningham wants to clinch up but Carrillo keeps it at a distance.
Cunningham misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Carrillo unleashes a big counter combination but Cunningham bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Cunningham fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Carrillo to the ground. Cunningham is now in Carrillo's guard.

Carrillo is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Cunningham presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Carrillo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Cunningham bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well Cunningham has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
