The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Standish throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Farquharson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Standish is in Farquharson's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Farquharson (0) vs (2) Standish Farquharson controls Standish momentarily but Standish frees himself. Farquharson managing to control the position. Standish showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Standish trying to control the position from guard on top but Farquharson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Standish forces his way into half guard. Standish is looking for a kimura but Farquharson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Standish to get the leverage. Standish tries to pass the half guard into mount. Farquharson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Standish looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Farquharson is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at New York Public Gym, so we'll see if he gets out of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Standish is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Farquharson is controlling Standish's position as best he can from this difficult position. Farquharson is trying to get back to full guard. Farquharson wants to sweep but Standish has passed to side control!
