PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Markus Uno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Tough Guy. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Antonio Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Markus Uno!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva shoots in for a double leg but Uno sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Uno is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Silva can't break the clinch.
Uno lands a knee to the head.


It looks like Antonio Silva has been cut.

Uno wants the takedown. Silva is fighting it off but Uno persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Silva's guard against the cage.
Uno passes Silva's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Nice strikes from Uno there.
Uno missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Silva is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Uno pulls his head out easily.
Uno not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Silva is looking to improve his position.
Uno wants to stand up but Silva is controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva wants to control but Uno is keeping busy.
Uno tries to stand but can't do so whilst Silva controls his leg.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Uno forces Silva back against the cage and clinches.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Uno has clasped his hands together around Silva's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Silva gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Uno is looking to take a break and control but Silva is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Silva flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Silva tries to get to full guard but Uno has control of the leg.
Uno tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Silva.
Silva makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Silva.
Uno looks gassed!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Silva working for a triangle but Uno defends it easily.
Silva bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Uno's guard.
Silva might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Silva trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Silva trying to control but Uno is working from the bottom.
Uno wants to get back to his feet but Silva is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Silva passes Uno's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Silva is trying to control the action in half guard but Uno is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Uno wants to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Uno has one foot on Silva's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Markus Uno seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Uno darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Silva is controlling Uno's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Uno is thwarting Silva's attempts to control the position.

Silva looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Uno prevents Silva from improving his position.
Silva is working hard here to advance position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Uno is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Silva is looking for a sweep. Uno is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Uno scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Uno seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Silva does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Uno thows a huge punch but Silva dodges it nicely.
Uno tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Uno keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Uno fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Silva manages to avoid it.

Silva moves into the clinch successfully.

Silva is fighting off a takedown attempt but Uno is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Silva to the mat. Silva regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Markus Uno dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Antonio Silva's cut.
That's time! Silva's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Uno wants to clinch

and Silva counters with a nice double leg into side control. Uno won't be happy with that.
Uno is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Silva in side control, throwing shots but Uno defends.
Uno is looking to regain half guard here but Silva keeps moving and retains side control.

Silva has hold of Uno's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Uno seems comfortable defending it but Silva has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Uno is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Uno is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Silva couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Antonio Silva!
