Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Quinlan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mitch Robertson! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Quinlan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Robertson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Quinlan advances nicely into full mount. Quinlan has control of Robertson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Robertson regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Quinlan seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Robertson is holding on tight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Quinlan looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Quinlan is going olschool here, as he tries to force Robertson to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Robertson shrugs it off.
