Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Everett Covington (ranked 1195 p4p, 1001 weight class) and Kamil Marek (ranked 163 p4p, 136 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Everett Covington!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kamil Marek!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Alyssa Summers and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marek misses with a straight right.
Covington drops his hands momentarily and Marek takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Covington takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Marek throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Marek uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Covington.

Kamil Marek seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Marek might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Covington is trying to trip Marek. He has hold of a leg but Marek is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Covington persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Marek escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Covington gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Marek stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

It seemed like Marek was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Covington connects with a nice short shot to Marek's temple.

Kamil Marek showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
