This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 32 wins and 42 losses; Anthony Lavicci! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 10 losses; Stoned Nelson! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Daniel Bishop and Colin Fotheringham.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Nelson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Nelson lands in his opponent's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Lavicci (0) vs (2) Nelson Lavicci has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Nelson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Nelson told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Nelson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Lavicci looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Lavicci looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Lavicci! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Lavicci (6) vs (4) Nelson Lavicci taking a break here but Nelson is having none of it and regains half guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Lavicci is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
